This is a story about the inhabitants of a block of flats standing alone on the outskirts of an industrial city. Unemployment, lack of prospects, and powerlessness create a special aura in which events unfold. The main character, 25-year-old Goździk, has lived here since he was born. He does not work or study.

Zofia and Ania are two senior ladies, each quite a character. They have already put the years of madness behind them – or maybe not? They have not seen each other for half a century. Each followed her own path. One of them finds herself in a situation that creates a new scenario for both. She would like to tear it apart and discard it, but maybe she should grapple with it and go on a journey, one of a kind? After the death of her husband, Dasha Horová has to fight for her Sunny Mountain farm against Marcel Kalina, owner of the St Hubert farm, who wants the two farms to merge into one. She is being helped by her stepson David, who has come to Sunny Mountain to hide from debt collectors, and her own son Luke, fresh veterinary college graduate. They and other people around them are grappling with problems small and great, united by the bond of love for horses.

A television adaptation of the memories of one of the first important Czech actors, Jindřich Mošna, about his difficult theatrical beginnings. At that time, as a kandrdas – i.e. a beginner – he asked the director for a so-called benefit, which was a performance that belonged to an important actor and whose proceeds were to belong to him. The director agreed, but stipulated that he would take almost all of the fee. Mošna chose The Bell Ringer at the Mother of God as the performance.

The story takes place in a retirement home and creates a mosaic of the lives of old people who are trying to find a relationship with themselves and with life in these specific conditions. Each of its residents has a distinctive approach to life and its basic values. The most interesting features of the title, which is marked by a visibly cold production approach, are the worthy performances of the actors of the older generation. Some of them appeared in front of the camera after many years and unfortunately for the last time.
